Professional Organizations

  • American Association of School Administrators - AASA, founded in 1865, is the professional organization for over 16,500 educational leaders across North America and in many other countries.
  • Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development - ASCD is an international, nonprofit, nonpartisan education association committed to the mission of forging covenants in teaching and learning for the success of all learners. The organization provides professional development in curriculum and supervision; initiates and supports activities to provide educational equity for all students; and serves as a world-class leader in education information services.
  • Council of Administrators of Special Education - CASE is an international professional educational organization which is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children whose members are dedicated to the enhancement of the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of each individual in society.
  • National Association of Elementary School Principals - A professional organization aimed at helping K-8 principals do the best possible job in leading their schools to excellence.
  • National Association of Secondary School Administrators - NASSP is a professional organization for principals, assistant principals and others interested in middle level and high school education.
  • National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) - is a non-profit, private association that represents state and territorial boards of education. The organization's principal objectives include strengthening state leadership in educational policymaking; promoting excellence in the education of all students; advocating equality of access to educational opportunity; and assuring continued citizen support for public education.
  • National Education Association - NEA is America's oldest and largest organization committed to advancing the cause of public education. Founded in 1857 in Philadelphia and now headquartered in Washington, D.C., NEA proudly claims over 2.3 million members who work at every level of education, from pre-school to university graduate programs
  • National Rural Education Association - (NREA) - is the oldest established national organization of its kind in the United States. Formerly known as the REA, the Association traces its origins back to 1907 when it was originally founded as the Department of Rural Education. Through the years it has evolved as a strong and respected organization of rural school administrators, teachers, board members, regional service agency personnel, researchers, business and industry representatives and others interested in maintaining the vitality of rural school systems across the country.
  • National School Board Association - NSBA is a federation of state associations of school boards across the United States and the school boards of the District of Columbia, Guam, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. NSBA is the nationwide advocacy and outreach organization for public school governance. Its mission is to foster equity and excellence in public elementary and secondary education in the United States through school board leadership.

Staff Development Resources

  • Monty Roberts International Learning Center - Monty Roberts is touted as the man "who listens to horses". However, his methods go beyond work with horses and serve as a philosophy of communication. The business world has connected with Monty to learn "how much more can be accomplished with kindness and non-confrontational behavior-shaping techniques, than can be accomplished with harshness and aggression.
  • National Staff Development Council (NSDC) - founded in 1969, is the largest non-profit professional association committed to ensuring success for all students through staff development and school improvement.
  • Training & Development/Human Resources Links - TCM Internet Services has collected over 200 links to sites and resources in the area of training distance learning, and other HR-related topics.
  • U S WEST WOW Van Outreach Program - was created to provide education in new technology to community members in the U S WEST and MediaOne operating territory. The program is a partnership between the U S WEST Foundation, MediaOne, and the Math and Science Teaching (MAST) Center at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley.

Federal, State, & Local Agencies

  • Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) - makes hundreds of Internet-based education resources supported by agencies across the U.S. Federal government easier to find.
  • National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) - In addition to representing the Executive Branch in both domestic and international telecommunications and information policy activities, NTIA also manages the Federal use of the spectrum; administers infrastructure grants to support the development of a national information infrastructure accessible to all Americans; manages public telecommunications facilities grants designed to maintain and extend the public broadcasting infrastructure; and performs cutting-edge telecommunications research and engineering, including resolving technical telecommunications issues for the Federal government and private sector
  • Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services - OSERS supports programs that assist in educating children with special needs, provides for the rehabilitation of youth and adults with disabilities, and supports research to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.
  • Office of Special Education Programs - OSEP has primary responsibility for administering programs and projects relating to the free appropriate public education of all children, youth and adults with disabilities, from birth through age 21. The bulk of special education funds is administered by OSEP's Division of Assistance to States, which provides grants to states and territories to assist them in providing a free, appropriate public education to all children with disabilities.
